Polly Douglas PhD Dip(CNM) MBANT Polly has recently qualified as a nutritional therapist, with a diploma from the College of Naturopathic Medicine in Edinburgh; she is also a member of The British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy (BANT). She has a background in biological sciences and worked within the NHS for 5 years before deciding to re-train, following the birth of her two daughters. Polly will carry out nutritional therapy sessions on a one-to-one basis, or for families needing some advice on healthier eating, or more specific health issues. She can also offer food allergy testing, hair mineral analysis testing and many other tests which can help to give more specific information about what is happening within the body e.g. stool tests to check for parasites, or digestive inefficiencies and hormone screening to help with PMS or fertility issues. As a Nutritional Therapist, I aim to identify potential imbalances in the diet or triggers which may cause your symptoms. This approach allows me to work with people on many different levels, supporting the body towards maintaining optimal health and function. Prior to a consultation I will ask you to fill out some forms and return them to me, the during a typical nutritional therapy consultation I will assess your general health, family history, dietary habits, digestive function and lifestyle. Some specific functional tests may be recommended such as food allergy tests, hormone profiles, stool tests or hair mineral analysis. Each person is an individual with unique requirements, and time is taken to define a personalised nutrition plan rather than a ‘one size fits all’ approach. This may require dietary modifications, suggestions for lifestyle changes and food or botanical supplement recommendations. Regular review sessions enable me to work with you, monitoring changes and adjusting your plan so that you get the most out of it.
